True love…

Today the perfect topic is weighing heavy on my heart, and although I haven’t blogged to you in a very long long time I could not help myself today.  I spent my day with a co-worker and on our way back from lunch she told me a story, one about her true love…one which she celebrates 34yrs of marriage this weekend. All I could think was – is ahhh real ole’ fashion love. The kind that makes it through the thick and thin. The kinds that holds on through the highs and lows. LOVE…

They met when she was only 20 years old and he was 29, the comfort they felt with one another, the sudden openness and connection they made, had them engaged after two dates and married in three months – I love it! He still calls her at noon every day just to check on her and her day so far. They have children, they have grandchildren and they still have each other.

My friend Anna’s parents celebrate 50 years of marriage today and can I tell you from the small amounts of time that I was able to share with them, I was able to see a special kind of love, one doesn’t see to often.  Her mom the rock of her family and her dad over flowing with love and joy  He, to me is an example of the love a man should have, could have for a woman, unconditional and never failing.

Another friend of mine has been married for 25+ years and a few times a week they have lunch together and they take off in their old pickup and she sits right next to him, his arm holding her close. They hold hands and take romantic trips for the weekend.

I have no earthly idea what in fact holds a marriage together for so long, but it’s awe-inspiring is it not? Do you not just get a little bit of a flutter in your tummy? Or soft hearted when you look, think or remember your honey? This morning I thought about my hubby and his silly ways, he tells me he loves me two or three time a morning and though he is married to a tough lady (me) one who hates to cry or show any signs of weakness (haha) I hope that his silly routine keeps me falling in love with him for years and years to come…

This holiday season go ahead get all mushy hearted and love someone...
