My birthday gift to YOU!

I could write to you all kinds of stuff about how I feel turning 36 today, but I won’t bore you with those details. Some people my age thinks it’s turning the corner making you closer to 40, not me, 35 was a great year and I hope 36 is even better, I feel greater today at 36 than I have in years (many years like going back to high school years…), I feel physically stronger and somehow more in control of my health and body than ever.

Yesterday I went on mission to make a body scrub! Homemade and natural - a cellulite reducing, skin moisturizing, exfoliating, detoxifying, firming and magical working body scrub-a-dub-dub!

(Aging much!? LOL)

Well I am not sure that this scrub will do all of this for you or me for that matter but it is a combo of ingredients that claim to do a little bit of everything.  After my shower last night I can’t tell you that my cellulite is all gone or that my skin is as tight as it was years ago BUT my skin felt great! I promise you it felt like I had been to a mini-spa!! My skin felt smooth and moisturized and my hubby was happy because he said I smelled like a Cafe Macchiato!!

So here are the cast of characters for the scrub…

Coconut Oil, Baking Soda, Cornstarch, Cinnamon, Coffee and Sugar

I mixed all the dry ingredients and added then added the melted coconut oil just until it looks like wet sand, you don’t want it too wet because your ingredients will start to dissolve and you want them to stay coarse and scrubby :)

Next you pat them in to a mini muffin pan! This way you can make mini scrub bars, each one good for one shower! This worked out great, it gave me 9 mini bars and I just popped them in the fridge for 20 minutes and was ready to try one out in the shower!

Note: I used a metal mini muffin pan and when I took them out realized they were stuck in the pan! Thankfully the coconut oil loosens up real quick with just a tiny bit of heat! I had just finished making dinner, so I put the pan on one of my burners for just a few seconds and they all popped right out. I think I might be better off getting a silicon muffin pan instead.

I used it to exfoliate my legs, my tummy, arms and as it began to dissolve I patted it on my face! Like I said before it felt great and smelled good too!

So without further-a-do here is the recipe :)

6 tbsp. - organic coffee
5 tbsp. - organic raw sugar
2 tsp. -   cornstarch
2 tsp. -   baking soda
2 tsp. -   cinnamon
2 tbsp. - organic coconut oil (melted)

You want to do this two maybe three times a week, so give it a try and let me know what you think!
